Next Darts Meeting - Advance Notice 13 April 2008 Annual General Meeting of the Black Isle Darts League 2nd September 2008 @ 7.30pm in the Union Tavern, Fortrose Bring your league fees with you as those are to be collected on the day. Black Isle League Singles 12 April 2008 The singles games were held at Oscars on 12th April, bringing the Black Isle Darts season to an end. The womens singles were won by Roslyn of the Ord Arms following a close final against Linda (deliberately hiding below) of the Conon Hotel team. Therefore Roslyn retained her title from last year.
In the mens competition there was a Tavern final between Ali Ross and Murdo Mackay, with Ali beating Murdo in another tight game. That makes Ali's 5th champion title over the years.
Also at the event further trophies were presented. Roslyn also received the 180 trophy for the most 180s in the season, plus Oscars and the Tavern received their league winners and runners up trophies respectively.
Royal Team Receive Harris Mackenzie Cup Trophies 04 April 2008 At yesterday's league game the Royal team were pleased to receive their runners up trophies for the Harris Mackenzie cup held at the Tavern recently. Thanks to the Tavern for producing those for the team. Oscars to Receive League Title 31 March 2008 As no-one will be able to reach them on points, the league winners for the 2007-2008 season will be Oscars, with Tavern now in second place. Oscars Win Their Own Cup 29 March 2008 Oscars beat the Tavern to win their own cup competition. In a close final Oscars won the day in the end 5 - 4 against the Tavern, with Kenny Gillanders and Craig Mackenzie winning the final doubles game to take the match.
The winning team are pictured above: (L-R) Kenny Gillanders, Mark Dryburgh, Kenny Mitchell, Craig Mackenzie, Robert Stewart and Martin Keyes. Tavern Pair win Doubles Competition 15 March 2008 The Doubles competition, held in the Ord Arms was won by a Tavern pairing this year. The winners being Ali Ross and Donnie Patterson. They defeated the runners up team from the Cromarty Arms, Kenny MacFarlane and Brian Cameron (Snr). A 180 was scored by Robert Stewart of Oscars during procedings. Postponed games played 13 March 2008 Oscars played the Ord Arms in a postponed game earlier in the season. Oscars won the game 7-3. The Cromarty Arms also played Conon Hotel on the same night, with the same result - the Arms winning 7-3. Plough Inn win their first game! 06 March 2008 It was celebrations all round for the Plough Inn team as they won their first game since joining the Black Isle Darts league this season. In their home league game tie against the Ord Arms, the team won 6 games to 4. Tavern win their own Cup - Harris Mackenzie 01 March 2008 The semi finals and finals of the Harris Mackenzie Memorial Cup were held at the Union Tavern in Fortrose on Saturday 1st March. The first semi final was played between The Tavern and Oscars of Dingwall, with the Tavern proceeding to the Final after winning 5-1. The second semi final was effectively a derby match between the Cromarty Arms and the Royal Hotel of Cromarty, with the Royal winning the very tense game 5-3. The final meeting was therefore the Tavern against the Royal. Again, another very close game with the Tavern scooping the cup after winning 5-3. The winning team were: Ali Ross, Ali Urquart, Donnie Patterson, Murdo Mackay, Mike Mackay and Graeme Matheson. A very good day of darts, the only factor marring the day was the lack of runners up trophies. The only competition this season not to have had runners up awards, despite their insistance of keeping two cups for the pub. The apparent reason was that the runners up trophies were not taken from the pub at the Tommy Anderson cup earlier in the season.... this is unfortunate as it was their own Tavern team who won those trophies! The Tavern Scoop the Cromarty Arms Cup 16 February 2008 The Union Tavern of Fortrose won the Cromarty Arms Cup beating
Winning team were Graeme Matheson, Ali Ross, Ali Urquhart, Donnie Patterson, Mike Mackay and Murdo Mackay. Darts Meeting Follow Up 15 February 2008 Present at the meeting - a representative from all teams apart from Conon. A call was made to confirm the results of the meeting. The result of tonights meeting was that no player signed for the Inverness league, regardless of whether a team may be disbanded/suspended, may be allowed to play in the Black Isle league. Therefore the players reported playing for Conon and Oscars must not continue playing for the remainder of the season. The majority vote was carried to that fact along with the agreement that a line would be drawn at this point, rather than backdating games/points/cup results. Darts Meeting Tonight 15 February 2008 A meeting will be held tonight at 7pm in the Tavern. A complaint has been made about a team within the league and therefore a representative from each team should attend. 180 score report 07 February 2008 3 Oscars players scored 180 in their league game against Conon. Players scoring the 180 were: Hec Fraser, Robert Stewart and Craig Mackenzie League table updated 07 February 2008 Now that I've got the information for the last few league games, the table is now updated, just in time for the next league day! Oscars win the Gordon Hogg Shield 02 February 2008 Semi final 1 was the Royal Hotel vs the Tavern. The Tavern won that first game 5 games to 1. Semi final 2 was the Conon Hotel vs Oscars. Oscars won that game 5 to 1. The final was then played between the Tavern and Oscars, with Oscars again winning 5 games to 1 to lift the trophy.
Winning team above (although a bit blurry!) were R-L: Robert Stewart, Kenny Mitchell, Alan 'Pepe', Andy Logie, Hec Fraser, Craig Mackenzie. 180 scores aplenty in the Gordon Hogg Shield first round 31 January 2008 In Cromarty, the Royal played the Ord Arms. Both Moray Mackay of the Royal and Roslyn of the Ord Arms scored a 180 in their games. In Rosemarkie, where the Plough faced Oscars, Andy Logie from the Oscars team also scored 180. I'll add in any further 180 reports as I get them... lets hope we see some more at the semis and final on Saturday! |
